The CD will be a 2 disc set with the first disc focusing on the intimate duo setting and the second disc adding Scott Colley on Bass and Joey Baron on Drums. ArtistShare participants were treated to an early pre-release download on October 1st. The official release date is set for October 30, 2008. (Bill Frisell appears courtesy of Nonesuch Records)
Since the establishment of ArtistShare in 2001, the label’s artists have received four Grammy awards and eleven nominations including Maria Schneider’s Concert in the Garden which was the first recording in history to win a Grammy without being available in retail stores. This year, for the 51st Grammy Awards, ArtistShare continues its tradition by submitting releases of four new artists.
The latest album from John Lennon Songwriting Contest winner Kate Schutt (pronounced “shut”) No Love Lost has been submitted for consideration for “Best Jazz Vocal Album”. From the album, “Mary” has been submitted for “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance” and “How Much In Love” for “Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s)”. Grammy award winner Maria Schneider describes Kate’s music “From the first notes I heard, I knew Kate was the real deal. A huge talent.”
